Tennis elbow or lateral epicondylitis is caused due to inflammation around the outside or upper areas of one’s elbow and forearm. Basically, tennis elbow is damage caused to the outside or upper tendon near the elbow muscle which is used for stretching the wrist and spreading fingers. Some of the symptoms of tennis elbow are pain in the outside area of the elbow, problems when shaking hands, turning door knobs, and more.

What is Tennis Elbow?
Tennis elbow can be described as a strange pain and discomfort caused in one’s forearm muscle which is connected to the outside portion of one’s elbow. More than usual, tennis elbow is caused by the repetitive and strenuous use of one’s wrist, forearm, and elbow. Problems and symptoms related to tennis elbow can extend to one’s elbow, forearm, and wrist.
The medical term for tennis elbow is lateral epicondylitis.
Symptoms of Tennis Elbow
The biggest indicator or symptom of tennis elbow is pain, discomfort, and/or uneasiness in the outside or upper area of one’s elbow. The unpleasant symptoms can also extend to one’s forearm and wrist. Here are some symptoms of tennis elbow –
- Pain when gripping objects, lifting (heavy) weights, shaking hands, opening doors, etc.
Continued pain in one’s forearm - Pain and uneasiness on the outside of one’s elbow during or after performing tasks
What is Golfer’s Elbow?
A golfer’s elbow or golf elbow can be described as a strange pain, numbness, or tenderness caused in one’s forearm muscle which is connected to a bony portion on the inside of one’s elbow. More than usual, a golfer’s elbow or golf elbow is caused by the repetitive and strenuous use of one’s wrist, fingers, and forearm. Problems and symptoms related to tennis elbow can extend to one’s elbow, forearm, wrist, and fingers.
The medical term for a golfer’s elbow or golf elbow is medial epicondylitis.
Symptoms of Golfer’s Elbow
The biggest indicator or symptom of a golfer’s elbow or golf elbow is pain, discomfort, and/or uneasiness in one’s wrist, fingers, and the inside or inner area of one’s elbow. Here are some golfer’s elbow symptoms –
- Pain when flexing the wrist or making a fist
- Continued pain, numbness, or tenderness near the inside area of the elbow
- Pain and uneasiness on the inner side of one’s elbow during or after performing tasks
- Weakness of fingers; especially one’s little finger and ring finger
Tennis Elbow Treatment & Golfer’s Elbow Treatment
